Concealed Carry in Restaurants Passes Senate: Smoking Guns Not Allowed!

As a concealed weapons permit holder, there have been times that I have been forced to leave my weapon, reluctantly, in my car to eat lunch or dinner. As a responsible gun owner, I have always been concerned about the security of a weapon left unattended in a vehicle. Now that worry should be gone, assuming the bill finds it’s way to a willing pen in the hands of Governor McDonnell.

The left has argued as if the bill would suddenly allow a gun in a restaurant where they were currently prohibited. That is simply untrue. It is currently legal to carry an unconcealed weapon into a restaurant, something I prefer not to do. Many feel forced by current law to do just that.

Other than exposing three Senators as anti-second Amendment liberals on the issue: Senator Harry B. Blevins (R-14), Senator Thomas K. Norment, Jr. (R-3) and Senator John C. Watkins (R-10), the bill changes little as far as safety is concerned.

Besides, since the ban on smoking in Restaurants went into effect, Smoking Guns would be prohibited in a restaurant.

We are all perfectly safe!
